On 9 May 2026, a group of educators attended the RISE Educator Exchange: ElevatED 2026 Professional Development Session, titled “AI-Empowered Teaching: Practical & Ethical Use of AI in Malaysian Classrooms”, at G Hotel Gurney, Penang, from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

The session was conducted by Ms Mindy Tay, Programme Director of the Bachelor of Education (Hons) programme at the School of Education, Taylor’s University, and Mr Keith Chin Wei Jun, Lecturer at the School of Education, Taylor’s University.

The programme aimed to equip educators with practical knowledge and skills to:
  • Incorporate AI-enhanced lesson design for differentiated teaching;
  • Utilise AI tools for assessment and feedback; and
  • Understand the ethical and responsible use of AI in the classroom.
Participants were introduced to the CRAFT framework (Context, Role, Action, Format, and Tone), a structured approach to creating effective AI prompts. They then worked in groups to identify challenges related to the use of AI in education, exchanged ideas with other teams to propose solutions, and collaborated to develop lesson plans using the CRAFT framework.

The session provided valuable insights into the integration of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning, empowering educators to leverage AI responsibly while enhancing classroom effectiveness and student engagement.
